What We Believe
Salem is Living The Story in our hearts and with our hands-bringing light, warmth, and nourishment to the community. Our church is a candle glowing from St. Cloud's East End to the world, welcoming all to the body of Christ. We shine through our music, ministry and mission.
We are a Lutheran congregation part of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America). Lutherans believe God's grace is primary in our lives and in yours. The ELCA website explains more about our faith tradition. We want people of all colors, genders and sexual orientations to be comfortable as a part of our communion.

When we say we are Making Jesus Known:
- We are making known Jesus who is the meaningful relationship/s of love and acceptance for all that we understand through the Jesus Stories in the Bible (teachings, healings, miracles) and Lutheran theology (trinity, Son of God, Redeemer, Incarnation).
- We want people to Know this by experiencing our understanding and the embrace of God. This knowing raises our own awareness and changes our behavior as followers of Jesus.
- We are intentional about offering our gifts to God who is Making all this happen:
- in our daily interactions in relationships
- with our worship together
- through mission projects that meet real needs.
Making Jesus Known means we Live the Love we know through Jesus by meeting people where they are to grow meaningful relationships
Diversity
We create space for all of us to be open and in relationship with one another.
Our neighborhood matters to us. The East End neighborhood is diverse, and we want to be in Christian and neighborly community with them.
All-Generations Community
We believe that God calls us to be a congregation that includes younger generations and elders in community together.
We value the contributions of each generation, we benefit from their unique skills and we invest in ministries to serve those of all ages.
Serving God
Our wider community, including our neighbors worldwide, matters to us. We want to help and serve all people.
Our ministries and foundation support local and global needs in major ways.
Music
High-quality classical and praise music are equally important to us. We regularly worship with vocal and instrumental ensemble and solo music.
We believe that music is a gift from God to the world and has the power to heal.
